Prologue: Page 15
Okay, so, let’s address the elephant in the panel: I haven’t posted one of these pages in a really, really, spectacularly long time.

No, I wasn’t taking a break or quitting with no notice. I wanted to draw and post this comic every week. But I was physically unable to do so – because what happened is I got sick. Very sick, super-scary-stuff sick, it’s-a-miracle-I’m-still-alive sick.

It took three years to get me well again. At the beginning, I didn’t have enough motor control to accurately type a text message or write with a pen. I’m cured now, but it wasn’t without help and hard work. (For more details about my illness, I’ve written an article about it and drawn a short comic).

Click here to see how YOU can save someone like me. All it takes is five minutes and swabbing your cheek with a Q-tip to join a donor registry and help save people’s lives. A bone marrow transplant saved my life, but there are many others just like me that are still searching for a match. You can be their cure.

See you on Wednesday for the next page (no wait this time).

I have a memory of a memory (I think the original is probably gone) of cleaning a trache tube when I was really young; complications from pneumonia, which used to visit me often. I had it for at least a year.

I'm signed up for marrow donation, but I don't remember the registry name.

I am genuinely glad you are back and doing better. I've been checking back every Wednesday and pleasantly surprised to see an update!
I'd been in a coma for several weeks during my senior year of high school, so I understand a little bit of what you went through afterwards, though for a different condition. The weight and muscle tone loss, learning to walk again, other unfun stuff...
Stay well. I'm happy you're back.

Thank you, Miles! It makes me so happy to see that you still read and respond to my work. What doesn't make me so happy? Hearing you've had similar crummy health experiences as I have - I wouldn't wish that on anyone!

I'm happy to be back. Thanks for sticking with me.
